On October 16, 2013, the House and Senate passed, and the President later signed, H.R. 2775, the “Continuing Appropriations Act, 2014.” The legislation funds the federal government, including the Judiciary, through January 15, 2014, on a Continuing Resolution (CR) basis, and extends the federal government’s borrowing authority through February 7, 2014. Suspended payments to Criminal Justice Act panel attorneys will resume immediately and will be paid in the order in which they were entered into the payment system. It may take the Department of the Treasury several days to clear the backlog of nearly 12,000 vouchers.
